Santa Standard Benchmark for UT2004
[FO]Santaduck
http://www.santaduck.com
http://www.frag-ops.com/ a semi-realism mod for ut2k3/ut2k4
___________________________________________________________

This is based on the version originally made for UT2004 demo.
I believe it will work for retail just fine, but I haven't tested it.

====================================
FEB 2006:
THESE SCRIPTS AND INI FILES HAVE NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR COMPARISON WITH VERSION 3.X ON THE OS X SIDE-- THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE ABILITY TO ENABLE/DISABLED SOUND AND GRAPHICS RENDERING. THEREFORE, EVERYTHING IS STILL COMPARABLE IF YOU ENABLE SOUND AND ENABLE GRAPHICS RENDERING.

THE MAC VERSION NOW ENABLES FULL SHADOWS, SO THE COMPARISONS WILL ACTUALLY BE BETTER.

Notes:
______________

1) This benchmark is intended to be accurate across all computer rigs. This is because:
  a) It uses a standardized custom INI files that bypasses the normal user.ini and ut2004.ini, one each for highest and lowest possible video settings.

Therfore for each resolution, ALL the video and audio settings are exactly the same every time this benchmark is run on any computer. The results can even be compared to the CTF Standard benchmark on mac computers, because they use the same INI settings.

2) Easy installation: you don't have to move or edit your .ini file to change mindesiredframerate, localmap, or to use the 'stat fps' command. It's all done for you already.

______________
INSTRUCTIONS
______________

1. Move ALL files into the System folder inside the UT2004 main folder. (located by default in C:/UT2004/
2. Benchmark by double-clicking any of the .bat files.

3. After the benchmark your result can be found in the "Benchmark" Folder of UT2004. Just read the last line of Benchmark.log. The first item is your minimum FPS, the second is Average FPS, the third is maximum FPS, and the next is the overall score. Also for more information you can look in the most recent file inside the "Results" folder inside the Benchmark folder.

Video Settings
_________
Max:
These default settings are: color depth 32bit, texture detail Highest, Character Detail Highest, World Detail High, Physics Detail High, Dynamic Mesh LOD Highest, Decal Stay High, Character Shadows Full, Decals (X), Dynamic Lighting (X), Cornoas (X), Trilinear Filtering (X), Projectors (X), Foliage (X), Weather Effects (X), Fog Distance Bar all the way to the right, Low Sound Detail ( )

Min:
These default settings are: color depth 16bit, texture detail Lowest, Character Detail Lowest, World Detail Low, Physics Detail Low, Dynamic Mesh LOD Low, Decal Stay --, Character Shadows (None), Decals ( ), Dynamic Lighting ( ), Cornoas ( ), Trilinear Filtering ( ), Projectors ( ), Foliage ( ), Weather Effects ( ), Fog Distance Bar all the way to the left, Low Sound Detail (X)

Also note on flyby: Sound is disabled with -nosound flag, so the CPU is not computing sound.
On both: mindesiredframerate is set to 0, so video settings remain the same.
Also, keyboard & mouse inputs are for the most part disabled, to prevent slight changes these may cause in the result. Spacebar will allow you to quit at any time during the demo.

Comparison with the mac version will be essentially equivalent, as it also uses the same video settings and same botcount on the same map. However the bot action is slightly different, so min & max fps counts might vary slightly, whereas average & score should be meaningfully comparable. The mac version uses the following maps, botcounts, and seconds, and these values are based on the benchmarks for these maps in both Windows and Mac that were released by Epic back in UT2003.

To compare with Mac, simply edit the .bat file by substituting the map name (if other than dm-inferno), as well as the botcount (for botmatch), and the seconds flag.

BOTMATCH MAPS
 dm-antalus numbots=12 -seconds=77
 br-anubis numbots=12 -seconds=77
 dm-asbestos numbots=12 -seconds=77
 ctf-citadel numbots=12 -seconds=77
 dm-inferno numbots=10 -seconds=100
 dom-suntemple numbots=10 -seconds=100

FLYBY MAPS
 dm-antalus -seconds=77
 dm-asbestos -seconds=71
 ctf-citadel -seconds=77
 ctf-face3 -seconds=116
 dm-inferno -seconds=77
 dm-phobos2 -seconds=77
 dom-suntemple -seconds=77

For example, say you want to do the botmatch at 1024x768 with max settings with the map BR-Anubis.

Make a copy of the file bot_dm-inferno1024x768max.bat.
Edit the contents. It reads

.\UT2004.exe dm-inferno?spectatoronly=1?numbots=10?attractcam=true?quickstart=true?difficulty=7 -benchmark -ini=UT2004_1024x768max.ini -userini=benchmarkusermax.ini -seconds=100 -exec=santaduckbotmatch.txt

Change the 1) map 2) numbots 3) seconds. From the chart above, br-anubis has 12 bots with 77 seconds:

.\UT2004.exe br-anubis?spectatoronly=1?numbots=12?attractcam=true?quickstart=true?difficulty=7 -benchmark -ini=UT2004_1024x768max.ini -userini=benchmarkusermax.ini -seconds=77 -exec=santaduckbotmatch.txt

save, and run.
